Rain rain go away!
Its been a disappointing couple of weeks for the Farmers Bloodhounds and our riders. The weather has played havoc with our meet calendar. Like much of the country, last week we woke up to a winter wonderland. For equestrians however we quickly realise that our water pipes will be frozen, the horses need additional rugs and we will now need to brave the cold and start taking extra hay out to the fields. All of course done with frozen hands and feet because we haven't yet dug out the winter survival kit of gloves & thermals! But on we go!
We had to cancel Peopleton & The Crown at Weston due to the amount of rain that fell as the country defrosted, Our kind landowners and hosts walked the country with us and have all offered to have us back once the weather improves.
This break in the calendar gave us a chance to catch up with jobs at home. Our senior master seen below, did some extreme ice bathing, whilst many of us joined the farmers in London supporting the call for reform of the new tax legislation, those that didn't wore wellies to work in support.
The hounds are now hunting incredibly well and seem to have really found their voices. Oscar and a few of the team rode out with them over the weekend and were so pleased with their progress. Oscar was even spotted smiling from ear to ear!
So we are back out on the 8th December all being well, the team are working hard to check the routes and reroute if necessary.
The team are attending a Christmas show jumping event next week, a full update will be provided!
We will keep our horses fit and dig out those winter thermals as it looks like the winter is well and truly here again.
Stay warm
Emma
